Sweet Chicken Drumsticks

Sticky, sweet, juicy, and impossible to resist—these Sweet Chicken Drumsticks are a guaranteed hit! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a delicious glaze, they’re the kind of meal that gets everyone excited for dinner. Easy enough for a weeknight and tasty enough for guests, this recipe proves that simple ingredients can create seriously satisfying flavour.

Ingredients:

  • 12 chicken drumsticks with skin
  • 175 ml (3/4 cup) Canada Sauce ketchup
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) brown sugar
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp.) apple cider vinegar
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) garlic powder
  • 7.5 ml (1/2 tbsp) smoked paprika
  • To taste, salt and pepper

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F.
  2. Using the tip of a knife, make incisions in each muddler so that the marinade penetrates well. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Reserve 125 ml (1/2 cup) of the sauce and refrigerate. Place the remaining sauce and chicken drumsticks in an airtight bag. Mix well.
  4. Place in the refrigerator and let macerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
  5. Drain the drumsticks slightly and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Discard the marinade. Cook for about 55 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink near the bones or internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F).

Note: This recipe can also be cooked on the barbecue. Simply cook at
medium temperature for 24 to 30 minutes, turning halfway through.

Since this is a sweet marinade, the drumsticks may tend to caramelize quickly. To prevent the drumsticks from burning, finish the
second part of the cooking on indirect heat.
