The savoury combination of bacon with the crunchiness of water chestnuts is a match made in heaven. It will be one of the first appetizers to disappear at your holiday event.
- 1 package of bacon (cut strips into thirds)
- 3 cans whole water chestnuts
- 3/4 cup cane sugar
- 1 cup VitaBio or Utopia organic ketchup
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350°.
Cut bacon strips into thirds. Roll one whole water chestnut into each 1/3 strip of bacon, inserting a toothpick to hold it together, and place on a cookie sheet (use non-stick foil on cookie sheet to make clean up easier!). Continue this until all water chestnuts are rolled.
Once oven is preheated, baked for 30 minutes.
While those are baking, in a small mixing bowl combine all sauce ingredients.
Once the bacon and water chestnuts have been baking for 30 minutes, remove from oven and spook sauce over each one. Continue baking for another 25 minutes.
