Dark Chocolate Popcorn

A super delicious (and healthier) snack option sure to please the whole family!  This recipe features healthy coconut oil and dark chocolate - simply to die for!  Try adding cane sugar instead of salt for an even sweeter option and for an extra "coconutty" flavour opt for extra-virgin coconut oil!

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or chili powder (optional)
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1 tbsp Heartland Gold coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Directions:

Melt chocolate in a double broiler or heat proof bowl set over saucepan of barely simmering water, stirring often until smooth.  Stir in cayenne or chili powder.  Heat oil in medium-sized sauce pan over medium heat.  Pour in popcorn kernels and cover, leaving lid slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.  Cook until the popping has nearly finished, shaking pot frequently to prevent kernels from burning.  Place popcorn in a large bowl and drizzle chocolate over top.  Cool until hardened, breaking apart any large clumps.  Enjoy!
